Dr. Violeta Luna has traveled to India as part of a large team of clinical counselors to support locally led initiatives that promote community well-being, empowerment, and resilience.
Through the Chinmaya Organization for Rural Development (CORD) in Sidhbari, Dr. Luna supported efforts focused on women’s empowerment and community development. CORD’s model emphasizes locally developed solutions, community participation, and strengthening the capacity of rural communities to create sustainable change.
In Hyderabad, Telangana, Dr. Luna supported Indian pastors through the Manna Group of Ministries, strengthening their skills to respond to grief, trauma, and related emotional and psychological concerns within their congregations. Manna has maintained a ministry presence in Hyderabad since establishing a center there to train ministry leaders for service throughout India.
Across both settings, the work emphasized cultural sensitivity, respect for local knowledge and traditions, and strengthening the skills of trusted local leaders. The approach focused on listening, learning, and adapting professional knowledge to the cultural and community contexts in which people live and serve.
